Codicil

A codicil is a legal document that makes a change or addition to an existing will without replacing the whole will. Think of it as an amendment. A codicil must be signed and witnessed with the same requirements as the original will. Many attorneys recommend simply rewriting the entire will instead of adding codicils, because multiple codicils can create confusion about which version controls.
